IONIA, MICH. -- The NGSPA Region 4 Championshbips ran on May 10-14 at the Ionia recreation area in Ionia, Mich.
This year's weather was some of the best for running dogs as you can get.
The grounds were in perfect shape. A big thank you to all the clubs and various individual volunteers who donate their time to make this happen.
Another shoutout to the individuals who supported the trial, amateurs, and pros including April Raber, Fred Ryan, Hank Lewis, Anthony and Dayna Rusciano, Kirk Loftin, Sherri Tansgrud, James Juergens, Jim Huele, Jim Yates, Marc McKinley, Tom Davis, Joe Amatuli, and Dan DiMambro.
Our Judges for the Open Shooting Dog and Open All-Age were Ed Hart and Ken Chenoweth. The Amateur Shooting Dog was Judged by Matt Smith and Sandy Maclean. Thank you for your time and we appreciate you volunteering to help.

THE WINNERS
In the Open Shooting Dog, the winner was Uodibar's Robbi Jo, owned and handled by Sherri Tansgrud of Tuscumbia, Mo., and which ran in the 4th brace of the stake. Robbi had finds at 17, 21, 28, 38, 47, 59, all with excellent style and manners. She rimmed the fields of Ionia like a dog that had been there her entire life. Her bird finding ability and strong shooting dog performance earned her this title.
Runner-up was Slaterock's Mountain Heart,"Rommel," owned by James and Andy Dynkewick of Brecksville, Ohio, and handled by Dan DiMambro. "Rommel" had four well-spaced finds through out the hour. He had a strong powerful race and rimmed all the fields with class earning him runner-up laurels.
In the Open All-Age, No Sleep Til Brook Lynn, "Brooke," owned by Charles Lane of West Branch, Mich., and handled by Dan DiMambro, had multiple finds and one unproductive. "Brooke" ran a big consistent all-age race with virtually no holes. Her style and manners on birds was impeccable. This earned her the winner's spot!
Rock Rivers U Can't Handle It,"Dually," owned by Rick Heller of Allenton, Wis., and Handled by Dan DiMambro, ran a great all-age race with a strong finish. "Dually" had three finds throughout the hour but had one hole that separated him from the winner.
Winner of the Amateur Shooting Dog was Tulli's Shot to the Heart ,"Cupid," owned and handled by Joe Amatulli of New Hartford, Conn, running in brace No. 5 and notching finds at 5, 28, 40. "Cupid" ran a strong, forward race and had excellent style on birds to claim the crown.
Hi N's Hasty Matilda ,"Matte," owned, and handled by Hank Lewis of Louisville, Ohio, was this year's runner-up. "Matte" had finds at 27, 35, and 55. She ran a big, forward race and at times was a bit of a handful.
