The West Tennessee Field Trial Association hosted a new year of competitions for All-Age, Shooting Dog, and Derby dogs. Seventeen handlers and 39 dogs entered the competitions, anticipating a win for their hard work and dedication to the sport. Judges, handlers, and gallery withstood cold and windy days but ended the great weekend with perfect riding weather to watch dogs hunt birds. Many pointers and setters beautifully ran the lines and found several coveys of birds throughout the day.

Breakfast, lunch, and dinner were served to landowners, members, judges, dog owners/handlers, and local friends each day. Laughter filled the air, and stories about each day's hard work around WTFTA's traditional bonfire were told. Thank you to Hassell and Allison Smith for Saturday's delicious fish fry.

The Amateur Shooting Dog competition began the festivities on January 5, with a field of 12 entries. Thank you to the judges, Andrea Ward, Tom Waite, and Isaiah Todd.
On January 6, the Amateur All-Age competition had 14 entries. Thank you to the judges, Andrea Ward and Ike Todd.

On January 7, the Amateur Derby competition had 14 entries. Thank you to the judges, Andrea Ward and Isaiah Todd.

Thank you to the landowners who help these trials continue each year: the Currie Family, the Spiotta Family, the Humber Family, the Taylor Family, the Jones Family, the Rickert Family, the Todd Family, and the McClanahan Family. Thank you to John Butler for supplementing the West Tennessee Field Trial Club's pre-release coveys with more birds. Thank you to our field marshals, Allen Currie and Ike Todd. Thank you to all the owners and handlers who entered these competitions.

The weekend of February 17 is scheduled for the West Tennessee Open All-Age trial. The West Tennessee club is preparing for another successful and entertaining competition. This time, there will be a BBQ! Newcomers are always welcome to show their talents, share their experiences, eat good food, and feel right at home.
