Amateur Puppy Winners (l-r): Jameson Crandall (judge), Ashby Morgan with Taylor Made, Kathy Shorter with Luke, Steve Moore with Wayside Jade, and Arnold Ripley (judge).

The Lancaster County Field Trial Association's fall trial was held Saturday, January 13, at Beane Farm in Lancaster, Virginia. This marks the 55th year of the LCFTA's existence. The club began holding U. S. Complete Shooting Dog Association-sanctioned trials in the 1990s. We sincerely thank Nestl Purina for being the official sponsor of the USCSDA. We also thank everyone who pitched in to make this trial happen.

Arnold Ripley and Jameson Crandall judged the Amateur Puppy. They awarded Taylor Made, a male setter owned by Ashby Morgan, first place. Taylor Made ran a mature forward race with fancy animation. Second place went to Luke, a male pointer owned by Kathy Shorter, who hunted objectives and ran well. Third place went to Wayside Jade, a female setter who ranged reasonably and showed promise for her future.

The Amateur Shooting Dog judges, Doug Mays and Arnold Ripley, gave every entry their full attention. Chippokes Cracker Jack captured first place. Jack is a male setter who carried a strong forward race and scored four stylish finds. Second place went to Chippokes Fancy Lady, a female pointer. "Molly" also scored four finds during her 30 minutes, which ended with a strong finish. Both Jack and Molly are owned and handled by Lee Flanders. Pointer male Jake The Joker earned third place. Jake is owned by Mitchell Forrester and Jimmy Crandall and handled by Jimmy Crandall. He had three finds and an enthusiastic front-running application to the course.
