Amateur Shooting Dog (l-r): Justin Crook (judge), Jimmy Gentry, Tim Hammons with Little More Shine, Allen Linder, Kris Hammons, Terry Boatright (judge), Madison McDonald with Miller's Flower And Lace, and Buddy Morrison.

We had a very successful one-hour Purina points stake with 16 entries. Unfortunately, the Open had to be canceled due to handlers having transportation problems. I want to thank the judges, Terry Boatright and Justin Crook, who rode hard and gave every dog their undivided attention! Thanks to Jimmy Gentry, our esteemed bird planter and dog wagon driver! He made it all possible along with Allen Linder, who kept him straight and had snacks, too! A special thanks to Donna Boatright who came and did lunch!

The conditions were good, and the weather was nice, although quite cold early each day. Birds were plentiful, and each dog had an opportunity on them. Leading off the winners was Gentry's Little Jane, a Pointer female, handled by Taylor Henley in the first brace Friday afternoon. She garnered four well-spaced finds and a very fluid well-to-the-front pattern. She stood her birds great with composure and still. She set the mark and held till the end. Second went to Tim and Kris Hammons' Little More Shine; the Red Setter female is very accomplished and proved to be worthy with five finds, one of which was a woodcock. She ran a big race and was pushing the limit as to time, especially at pickup, where she was found way to the front after time expired! Madison McDonald and Miller's Flower and Lace, a Pointer female, make for a great team and gained third on a strong bird-finding performance.

Thank you to Purina and Greg Blair for the dog food and the support through AFTCA.
