Bama Quail Classic celebrated our 25th Anniversary this year. Mr. Gary Fuller has allowed us access to his property to conduct this trial for all these years. His generosity towards the field trial sport is greatly appreciated, as without landowners like Gary and his father before him, there would be no field trials. Thank you to Nestle Purina PetCare and Greg Blair for their continued support of the BAMA Quail Club.
Judges for the Amateur stakes were Tracy Swearingen and Will Dunn. For the Amateur Derby, first place was awarded to Southern Shadows Copper, owned by Lance Servais and handled by Bucky Street; second place was Quail Roost Twopence, owned by Dr. Susan Wells, while third place went to Sir William, owned by Marty Robinson.
The Amateur Shooting Dog entry was a little light this year, with 16 entries. However, there were some quality performances. First place was awarded to Erin's Young Offender owned and handled by Alan Atkins. Ty toured the grounds at extreme distance and produced three crisp pieces of birdwork. One Day La Bandita, owned and handled by Lane Hodges, produced a strong ground race with flawless birdwork to capture second place. Third place was Urgent Business, owned and handled by Bill Goodwin. BAMA Quail members are very appreciative of our judges. They were attentive to each participant and made the trial a good time for everyone.
Judges for the Open stakes were Harold Johnson and Morgan Brewer. First place in the Open Derby was T's Cash-Slinger owned by Cole Bollman and handled by Jamie Daniels. Second place was Erin's Bad Trick, owned and handled by Tony Reynolds. Third place went to Ravenwood Game On, owned by Joseph Cincotta and handled by Matt Basilone.
The Open Shooting Dog had 30 participants for our judges to review. First place was awarded to C S Snapdragon, owned by Tony and Becky Gibson and handled by Steve Hurdle. Snapdragon ran a forward shooting dog face and located birds three times. Second place was Erin's Johnny Walker owned by Theodore Roach and Harrison Lee and handled by Squire Lee. Johnny ran a strong race coupled with solid birdwork. Third place was Minnesota Red Confidence, owned by Rylee Ann Wood and handled by Tommy Rice Jr. Confidence was strong on the ground and had a good find near time. BAMA Quail Club owes a large thank you to our judges. They rode in inclement weather yet managed to be consistent in their pace, giving each participant their undivided attention.
We brought back our open stake this year and had a very good entry. Thank you to the professional handlers and owners and the amateur owners and handlers who participated. You have been supporting BAMA Quail for a number of years, and it is appreciated.
