The Region 16 Amateur All-Age Championship was a hotly contested field trial every entry having some form of birdwork, some good, some not-so-good. Judges Mark Haynes and Keith St. John chose Game Star, a Pointer female owned and handled by Dr. Fred Corder, as champion and Touch's Lone Dominator, a Pointer female owned and handled by Kent Cantrell, as runner-up. These two females ach had three finds with front-running all-age races. Other dogs with multiple birdwork: Rester's Cajun Justice with five finds, CKC Gun Runner with four, Panther Creek Rosie with four, Touch's Blue Knight with two, Dragonfly with five, and lost on his sixth find at pickup. Redeemed, braced with the champion, had two finds and two backs. There were other dogs with multiple game contacts, but I apologize I can't remember them all.

We want to thank Keith St. John and Mark Haynes for the way they handled the trial they gave every entry their full attention, keeping an even pace, I know of no dog they ordered up making for a fun event. I also want to thank John Henry Kitchens for being at all the right places with the dog wagon and Schley Rutherford and Jennifer Mckemie for marshaling. A big thank you goes out to the State Lands crew, who groomed the courses how we like them.

This is the first trial I have been involved with the administrative part. I have always marshaled and released birds and judged but never had to get judges and do the paperwork. If you have never done this, you have no right to complain; it is a pain, and I have been field trialing for 50 years. My hat's off to all the reporters, secretaries, and club officials who make sure things are done.
