The Northern New Hampshire Bird Dog Club held its thirty-first spring renewal on our Phillips Brook grounds in Stark, N. H.

White Mountain Open Derby Classic Winners. From left: Witch City Charlie with Steve Levesque, Lightning Flash Frank with Kelly Hays and Paucek's Dormin with Kellie Short. Behind: Deb Sloan and Doug Gix

It seems like yesterday when we all gathered at Clayson Glovers Farm in Dummer, N. H., the first Saturday in June in 1989 to hold our first sanctioned field trial. We were kind of new and did things a little different then. We had no club insurance and we gave out free beer all day to those who liked to enjoy a few brews! The trial was a smashing success and we have never looked back.

Many years the snow melt is a major concern of ours as the access road to our rural grounds is all dirt and mud and we are never sure we can get up there, but this year, with the early spring and the continuing drought, it was never an issue. Our club has a lease with American Forestry and all we have to provide is an up to date insurance binder for $2 million dollars.

Both grouse and woodcock were heard and seen on the grounds even though we were running on liberated quail. It is typical northern New England cover. Cutover woods and reverting fields.

Steve Levesque brought up the strong flying quail and the rosettes were made by Fletcher Printing in Morrice, Mich. We also want to thank Purina for supplying us with food coupons for the winners.

I also need to "Thank" my bride "Tamera" for coming up and cooking burgers and dogs for all our hungry field trailers. Tammy also made home coleslaw and other salads for lunch and Marie Bly made her famous "whoopie Pies". Thank you, ladies!

We want to say "Thank You" to all who came from all over New England and New York to run in our trial. We also want to "Thank" all those who judged for us, many who also came great distances. Jay Christian, Doug Dix, Deb Sloan, Steve Levesque, Kellie Short, Yours Truly, Deb Kennedy, Bob Arkley, Tony Bly, Thom Richardson, Jeremy Avery, Eric Rizza and Nick Hamel.

All of the placements are listed below.
