The Stillwater Open All-Age and companion derby was held on November 11-13 in Booneville, Ark. We had 7 handlers with 44 dogs that competed. In addition to the handlers, we had owners Dr. Jim Mills, Dr. Natlie Cooper, Dr. Gordon McDonald, Steve Lightle and Jay McKenzie. Ronnie Miller was on hand to marshal, and Mike Griffin piloted the Hummer with dogs in tow.

The derbies ran in a drizzle the first morning then cool weather for the remainder of the trial- perfect bird hunting weather! This trial is a qualifier for the National Championship. Lunches were prepared by Judi Tipton who also prepared Saturday nights snacks and happy hour.
Having sponsors really helps the club and participants and this trial was no exception. We wanted to say thank you to Nestle Purina for all you do in this great sport. Thanks for all the research and science that goes into making a product like Pro Plan Performance that gives our canine athletes the fuel to perform.

The judges, both successful amateur trailers, were Chris Weatherly from Grand Junction, Tenn., and Jason Super from Dallas, Tex. They were attentive, enjoyable and did a good job of sorting through the high caliber group of dogs entered in this stake.
Mike Lemons won 1st in the derby stake with Mr. Arkansas. Mr. Arkansas stayed boldly to the front and showed intelligence in his hunting application- on feed strip edges and likely spots. Westfall's Pioneer Pete, handled by Andy Daugherty, got 2nd for Ryan Westfall with an ambitious forward race in the bottoms by camp. Sandridge Big Iron brought 3rd home for handler Allen Vincent and owners Natalie Cooper, Jim Mills and Steve Lightle. Once Big Iron got straightened out, he showed power, ambition, and potential.
All-Age:
Wynona's Nickleback Sugar garnered 3rd with 2 finds and her forward hunting effort. Westfall's River Ice (Andy Daugherty) ran a bid forward race. He had an unproductive at 45 and his bid ended.

Sadie Firefly nice front-running race. Touch's Cocaine Blues was picked up early.
World Class Moonshiner handled by Matt Cochran scored a find. WF Wheels Up was picked up.
Reed's Yellowstone handled by Matt Cochran was picked up early. Texas Wild Rex was lost to the front.

Westfall's Power Trip (Andy Daugherty) had an unproductive and was picked up. Wynona Rona was also picked up.

Barshoe Forget me Not (Allen Vincent) was very strong on the ground and scored a covey coming out of the U. Worsham's Super Sport was scratched by Joe Worsham and Westfall's Mandalay was moved up. Mandalay scored a find and finished by the bridge for a smooth forward bid.

Westfall's True Grit (Andy Daugherty) was ranging out of touch and Andy asked for the tracker. Lester's Stemwinder (Randy Anderson) had a find and an unproductive.

Cold Creek Buck (Matt Cochran) put a find together along with a nice forward race. Buck was pushing the winners for sure. Justifier (Allen Vincent) was picked up.

Wild Creedence was picked up by handler Matt Cochran. Dream Chaser had the same fate.
Miss Stylin Sue (Allen Vincent) was strong on the ground. Bonner's Bulletproof was picked up.

Cypress Cracker was scratched. Big N Wild had an unproductive and was picked up.
I'm Gallant and Firefly's Invictus were both picked up.

Touch's Fire Away (Randy Anderson) won the stake with a find and showy forward race in the bottoms of the 3rd hour. Lowrider Frank lost contact with Allen Vincent and the tracker was requested.
