The decision has been made to cancel this weekend's trial. This is very unfortunate because we had over 70 dogs entered. This is the first time in the club's 50-year history that we have canceled due to weather! With so many participants coming from Wisconsin, Indiana, Ontario, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Michigan, the club has determined this is the smartest decision.

Those traveling with horse trailers are concerned about the safety of just attempting to get to Ionia. The hazardous conditions on the grounds themselves are another major concern. The mounted judges, handlers, and scouts would be susceptible to serious injury. The same holds for the judges and handlers in the Walking stakes. The predicted low is 14 degrees Saturday night. The ground will be frozen, enhancing the chance of injury to dogs' pads and horses' hoofs, let alone our brittle bodies.

The safety of our people, horses, and dogs is more important than attempting to run this trial. I hope to have a makeup date later this Spring if there is enough interest.
