The Beaver Valley Pointer and Setter Club held their annual spring trial May 5-6. I'd like to thank the judges Carlos Escalante and Dave Park, their excellent work and long hours in the saddle for the Open Stakes.

The winners of the Open Puppy, Backcountry Champagnesupernova ably handled by 12-year-old amateur Reese Carroll. Nova, was classy and ran to the front. Second was Flambeau River Hank. Third was captured by Backcountry Snake Eyes. She was handled by Reese Carroll. I wish I had his energy and determination.

The Open Derby was won by Pretty Box Leo. He's a big stylish dog and looks great on point. County Line Sky a classy pointer female ran to the front and looked great on her finds. Saddled Up Sadie placed third with a strong race and two nice finds.

The Open Shooting Dog stake had 3 big running classy pointer emerging as the winners.
County Line Sky the second place winner in the Amateur Derby place first in the Amateur. She was big running and stylish on point. Second went to Quehanna Country Roads with a strong race. Third Knight's Getting To Business. He was good on the ground and handled her birds well.

Mickey a stylish setter male was first in the Amateur Shooting Dog. He had a big race and 3 nice finds. Rebel was second with a good race and three finds. Blaze a strong black and white pointer had a good race and 2 nice finds.

I'd like to thank the judges of the Amateur stakes, brothers Zack and Andy Erne. They were attentive and thoughtful in their placements. I'd also like to thank the people that assisted in making this trial a success. Bird Planters Bob Smith Reese Carrol and Justin Mason, Kathleen Smith for running the kitchen. She provided excellent breakfasts, lunches, and dinners. The best way to describe her contribution is good eats. Joe Camissa for his help securing judges and his assistance with the drawing. Purina of course for paying for the ad and providing dog food and coupons.

Lastly and most importantly, the owners and the professionals that supported this trial. Without them it would not have been possible.
