The Region 2 Amateur Walking Shooting Dog Championship was held on May 13, at the Warrior's Mark Wingshooting Lodge and Kennel in Ginter, Pa., and hosted by the Pennsylvania Amateur Grouse Dog Club. A field of 16 shooting dogs were drawn for this year's renewal. Judges for this year's running were Pedja Kazic of Greenlawn, N. Y., and John Capocci of Ridgefield, Conn.

We would like to thank them for their time in the saddle. Thanks to Purina and Greg Blair for their long-time sponsorship and for all they do for field trials. Thank you also to SportDOG who was gracious enough to provide a collar system to the winner. Also a huge thank you to Mark and Dave Hughes who donated their time to driving the dog wagon and planting birds.

Named champion was Super Storm Cliff, a 3-year-old white and orange setter male. He is owned and handled by Thor Kain of Carbondale, Pa. This classy male ran in brace No. 2 and was braced with the always competitive CH Backcountry Bruiser owned and handled by Chris Catanzarite of Scenery Hill, Pa. The judges commented on how impressively stylish Cliff was on point. He ran a very fancy forward race showing great class on the ground and handling his finds with ease.

Runner-up was Double Deuce Zeke, a 5-year-old white and liver pointer male. He is owned and handled by Doug McMillen of Dubois, Pa. Zeke was braced with Doodle Ridge Elroy a setter male handled by Dr. Bruce Mueller of Everett, Pa. The judges commented that this was really nice brace with both dog's showing what a shooting dog should look like. There was much discussion between these two dogs for runner up but in the end Zeke separated himself from his bracemate.

We would like to thank all participants who supported this trial. We could not have held this trial without the generosity of all involved.
