The Rock Springs Field Trial Club held its fall trial on the grounds near Eskridge, Kansas, October 14-15.

The grounds are graciously provided by two landowners (Norma and Sandy), for which we greatly appreciate for letting us traverse the beautiful Flint Hills located just north of Eskridge, Kansas. These are rolling hills that provide a landscape that is second to none. Prairie with wooded draws allows the dog to show its range and bird-finding abilities. A few wild and planted birds were on the continuous courses available to the dogs and participants.

Scenting conditions were difficult throughout as it was extremely dry. There was plenty of water throughout from the ponds, but the underground springs were not running in the draws this fall. Cover was sparse in areas from grazing from the cattle. There was not a brace without bird work, as the club planted plenty for the entirety of the trial.

The Club would like to thank not only our landowners but also the sponsors of the event: NBHA, Purina, Gun Dog Supply, Garmin, OnX Hunt, Mule Brand Clothing, and Gundog Central. Without these sponsors through the NBHA organization, it would be very difficult to provide the quality trials needed for everyone to enjoy what we all love to do. Thank you to our judges, Joshua Palmer of Auburn, Kansas, Barry Ward of Paola, Kansas, and Jim Corpening of Topeka, Kansas. Special thanks to Bud Moore for supplying and driving the dog wagon. Lauren Palmer for driving the truck for participants to get around the courses. All the participants for the entries were greatly appreciated.
