As the dawn of 2023 unfolded, the north country faced unique challenges in organizing field trials due to the unpredictable spring weather that affected all scheduled events. Despite these hurdles, the members of the North Country Bird Dog Club eagerly embarked on the fall's North Country Championship.

For the fourth consecutive year, the North Country Shooting Dog Championship took place in the Grouse and Woodcock-rich Eau Claire County Forest. Although the calendar hinted at fall, the temperatures stubbornly clung to the peak of summer.

The NCBDC and Chippewa Valley Grouse Dog Association field trial grounds, boasting eight courses covering nearly 13 miles, demand substantial effort and teamwork for maintenance and preparation. Strong appreciation goes to the NCBDC, CVGDA, Minnesota Grouse Dog Association, and Moose Grouse Dog Club members for their invaluable assistance.

Judging the championship were Kyle Peterson and Larry Guild, both esteemed 'dog guys' known for their dedication. They navigated the demanding task of walking miles per day, paying keen attention to every participating dog. Forty-two dogs were drawn for the Championship.

Purina deserves gratitude for their unwavering support of our trials. Additionally, our sincere thanks go to Eau Claire County, as we recognize our privilege in running our dogs on their nationally acclaimed grounds. The Eau Claire County team's consistent efforts in providing excellent opportunities for Grouse and Woodcock make our experience unparalleled, and we acknowledge and appreciate their unparalleled cooperation.
In the end, Moss Meadow Seeker defended the Championship that he had won the year prior.
