The Derby entries were down, but the quality was not. First place went to Steven Feuss, handling Trigg, a pointer male. Trigg had several broke finds and a back for his brace. Trigg ran a far-reaching race and stayed in contact with his handler. Rob Warner's setter male, Jack, finished second with five finds and a back for his brace. Jack sure was a strong bird-finder in this brace.

Amateur Gun Dog
We had nine dogs enter this stake. There were lots of birds on the course for this stake, giving each entry an opportunity to find and point birds. Sadie, a female pointer, was selected for first place. Craig Hiatt calls her "Tripod," as she only has three legs. Sadie lost a rear leg when she was very young. She does not let the loss of a leg to slow her down. Sadie had multiple finds with the majority being broke finds. Second place went to "Diamond," a German Shorthair female handled by John Landolina. Diamond is a bird-finding machine. Third went to David Cates's setter male, "Scout," with a forward race and pointing several birds.

Amateur Puppy
The judges for this Puppy stake were very impressed by the quality of the eight entries that came to the line. Don Heisner won the Puppy stake with "Abby," a setter female sired by Don's "Buck" dog, so that line looks like it will continue. Second place went to "Queenie," a pointer female who ran a big race and handled for Travis Patterson. Third place went to a dog that came from North Carolina to compete. "Spot" is a setter male owned and handled by Worth Lewis.

The Central Prairie Field Trial Club would like to recognize our sponsors Purina Pro Plan, Garmin, onX Hunt, Mule Brand Gear, and Gun Dog Central. These sponsors are a big part of holding a field trial. We would also like again to thank the Ellis Family for use of their farm. Thanks to all the owners and entries.
