North American Woodcock FutF24

North American Woodcock Futurity (front, l-r): John Stolgitis with Chasehill Little Timmy, Mike Flewelling with Mohawk Mill Marie Laveau, Matt Tunney with Paucek's Ruthless Pursuit, and Adam Dubriske with Still Meadows Little Sunray. (Back): Judges Trevor London and Jon Cullen.

This year's trial was the 48th running of the North American Woodcock Futurity. The Futurity was held on September 5, the day prior to the Championship.
The Maritime Bird Dog Club wishes to thank Joe Dahl for his continued hard work on all matters related to the Futurity.
A rather light entry of nine dogs this year but a quality field of contenders.
The Club wishes to thank the judges, Trevor London and Jon Cullen, for doing a great job looking over the derbies for us this year.

First-Chasehill Little Timmy handled by John Stolgitis
Second-Mohawk Mill Marie Laveau handled by John Stolgitis
Third-Paucek's Ruthless Pursuit, handled by Matt Tunney
Fourth-Still Meadows Little Sunray handled by Adam Dubriske

The Winners
The first and fourth-place dogs were braced together in Brace #2. Little Timmy was strong to the front for his half hour and hunted the cover hard. His race was deemed superior to the others, and he was awarded the blue.
Little Sunray was also good on the ground but out of pocket at times, with some stops and starts. She was awarded the fourth-place ribbon.
Second-place Marie Laveau had the course to herself after three minutes as her bracemate was picked up for tagging. Marie had a solid race in heavy cover with woodcock contacts at 10 and 29, showing derby manners.
Third-place Ruthless Pursuit had a fast and fancy race, albeit lateral at times. She pointed a grouse at 10 and a woodcock at 28, showing derby manners.
