NGSPA Sharptail Amateur Shooting Dog Championship: Judge Robin Lambourn, Tami Larrondo with Canyon Creek Aces Peacemaker, Ray Larrondo, Brandon Blum with B M B's Madison Ave, and Judge Richie Robertson.

The 2024 NGSPA Sharptail Championship brought new leadership to the committee chaired by Brandon Blum, with Ray Larrondo as the secretary. Time was spent meeting with the landowners, going over the trial's future, and riding the courses to ensure they flowed well. Ample birds were seen in the weeks prior, and the 2024 revival was set up to be a great Championship.

A big "Thank You" to our landowners Dean Wang, Kelly Ducharme, and Mike Gunderson, and our sponsor Purina. Without them and their gracious donation of land, this trial would not be possible. Temperatures for the trial were forecasted to be warm, but every participant and judge was on board with starting at 6:30 a.m. and taking a minimal break after the first three braces to change horses and complete the day early.

The champion, "Wyatt," came from Brace 1. He started strong and was always to the front. After we turned north through the gates on course 1, around 20 minutes, Wyatt was ahead of us leading the way. At 25 in the big open pasture, Wyatt was seen standing, and a couple of birds were seen leaving. As Ray approached, a large covey flushed, with Wyatt displaying perfect manners. He continued to the front in a strong manner, needing minimal scouting.
Runner-up "Madison" came from Brace 4. She started a bit slow but got going after a few minutes with easy handling and going to the right objectives. She had a stop to flush at 20, followed by finds at 25 and 35. She continued forward for the rest of the hour with good range and forward pattern.
