Amateur Shooting Dog (Back row): Ben Dillard and Payton Gunby. (Front row): Ernie Saniga with Bella Bulli, Joe Lordi with Newfield Primus, and Dave McKay with Iron Bully.

The Lehigh Club ran its fall trial September 8 at the York Club grounds near Rossville, Pennsylvania. in very nice weather. Karen Saniga is the officer in charge of all of the details of the trial. She was helped by Roger Dvorak, who planted the birds. Greg Strausbaugh got the engraved glasses which went to all winners.

The Sothern Bird Hunters Association (SBHA) sponsored the trial, and each winner got a bag of Eukanuba dog food.

Our judges were veteran field trial people who have run dogs and judged many events over many years. They were Ben Dillard from Maryland and Payton Gunby from Georgia in the Amateur Shooting Dog. Joe Lordi from New Jersey and Dave McKay from Pennsylvania judged the Amateur Derby.

We had 18 in the Amateur Shooting Dog. The stake was won by Bella Bulli, a Pointer female handled by this reporter to a four-find effort with strong groundwork. Pointer male Newfield Primus was second for Bo Mamounis with a good ground race, and three finds. Third went to Iron Bully with three finds, a pair of backs, and a stop to flush.

In the Amateur Derby, Thor Kain's Pointer male Mohawk Mill Fired Up had a classy race with multiple finds to take the blue. Roger Boser's Red Setter Switchblade was second, also with multiple finds and a good ground effort. Freight Train A League of Her Own was third; Stacy Goodie's Shorthair had a good effort on the ground and a single stylish and polished find to win third.
Thanks to all participants for coming, and thanks also to all of those who lent a hand.
