Lynn Taylor Memorial All-Age (l-r): Jamie Daniels, Gary McKibben, Allison Daniels with Rebel Gold, David Williams, Scott Little, Kent Walker (judge), Michelle Clark with Rebel Dreams, Gary Lester with Valor's Lace and Grace, Mark Haynes (judge), and Korry Rinehart.

The Carroll County Field Trial Club hosted the annual renewal of the Lynn Taylor Memorial Open All-Age and Carroll County Open Derby stakes February 22 -24 on the grounds owned primarily by David Williams and located near Huntingdon, Tennessee. The starting date was delayed one and a half days due to cold weather and snow. Seventeen all-age and 10 derbies entered.
Purina sponsored the annual event, now run for approximately 30 years on Williams' grounds, and their sponsorship was repeatedly acknowledged and much appreciated. Mark Haynes from Brownsville, Tennessee, and Kent Walker from Collierville, Tennessee, judged. Their services were appreciated, and placements unquestioned.

The Carroll County crew rallied in their normal manner and smoothly fulfilled all the duties associated with the successful running. The crew included David Williams, Gary McKibben, Lebob Stanfill, Phillip Barnett, Vince Taylor, Jim Atchison, Michelle Clark, and Scott and Lisa Little.

The Open All-Age stake was won by Rebel Gold, owned and handled by David Williams. Rebel Dreams, also owned by Williams, placed second. Third place was won by Valor's Lace and Grace, an English Setter, owned by Ray Carter from Payson, Utah, and handled by Korry Rinehart from Rienzi, Mississippi.
Rinehart also handled the first place Derby; Miller's Triple Threat, owned by Al Bryson from Huntingburg, Indiana. Intensive Aint She Purty, owned by Steve Auxier from Lincoln, Nebraska, and handled by Larry Huffman, won second, and Dominators Southern Beau, owned by Gene Brown and Jeff Arnold from Tallahassee, Florida, and handled by Jamie Daniels from Dawson, won third.

OPEN ALL-AGE WINNERS
Rebel Gold won first place in his late morning effort on the third hour course. He managed very well for Williams and had birds three times: at 20, 42, and 59. The 4-year-old Pointer ran well to the front and demonstrated excellent manners and style during each of the flush and shot occurrences.
Rebel Dreams won second as she also produced birds three times during her first afternoon effort on the second hour course. Braced with the third-place winner, her finds were a divided find at 3 with her bracemate and additional finds at 18 and 35.
Valor's Lace and Grace had birds twice. The first find was divided with her bracemate, followed by a second find at 13. The Setter ran an excellent forward race and covered lots of ground to finish the hour at the hill on the Vickers Farm.

ALL-AGE RUNNING
Lester's War Bird, owned by Tommy and Bonnie Hamilton and handled by Gary Lester, was braced with Coldwater War Cry, owned by Paul Melton and handled by Weldon Bennett, in the first brace. Warbird pointed, and Lester flushed on relocation at 5. He was later lost, and Lester asked for his tracker at 40. Coldwater War Cry had birds twice, and Bennett flushed easily at 30 and again at 50, and the full hour soon finished.
After the second and third place dogs finished the second course, Gary McKibben had his Coldwater Paradise, and Joe Don House had his Pleasant Run Sue on the third course. McKibben's dog had birds at 15 but got too close to them and was picked up. House's entry finished the hour and had birds once, at 59.
Miller's King Poast, owned by Al Bryson and handled by Gary Lester, and Rebel Survivor, owned and handled by David Williams, were loosed at 9:00 on Sunday morning for brace four. Both dogs finished the hour in which Williams' dog had an unproductive at 20 and Lester's dog had birds at 28.
Pleasant Run Ruby, owned and handled by Joe Don House, went next, braced with Coldwater Bounty Hunter, owned and handled by Weldon Bennett. Bounty Hunter was picked up at 25. Ruby pointed, and House flushed birds at 50 while hunting the second hour course.
Lester's Shockwave, handled by Gary Lester for Tommy and Bonnie Hamilton, was paired with the first-place winner in brace six. Lester chose to pick him up at 30.
Gary Lester went again in brace seven, handling Lester's Storm Surge, owned by Mr. and Mrs. Hamilton, while Jamie Daniels had Haney's Last Call, with owner Nick Berrong, in the gallery. Storm Surge had birds at 5 and again at 27 and finished the hour, while Last Call had an unproductive at 25 and, with some absence, finished the hour.
Gal Gadot, owned and handled by Joe and Tessa Hughes, was handled by Joe in brace eight, while David Russell had Haney's Hurricane Seeker, which he and Rachel co-own. Hughes asked for his tracker at 40 to search for Gadot. Hurricane Seeker found no birds and was not seen very much from the gallery.
Coldwater Crackerjack was the lone dog in the final brace, handled by his owner, Gary McKibben. Crackerjack ran a good forward race but found no birds.
