Result: Region 2 Brittany Champagne Memorial Shooting Dog Championship

LACEY TOWNSHIP, N.J. -- The North Jersey Brittany Club hosted the 14th running of the Region 2 Brittany Champagne Memorial Shooting Dog Championship at Greenwood Wildlife Management Area. The Championship was scheduled to be run in the spring but because of COVID-19 was postponed until October, 2020.

This event required a great deal of member support to ensure that the Championship would run smoothly. Thank you to the North Jersey Brittany Club members for making this event possible

This year's event was under the judicial watchful eyes of Sheila Hart of Malvern, Pa., and Andrew Campbell of Northfield, Mass.

The Region 2 Brittany Championship began in the afternoon on Monday, October 12, with three braces completed. The day was unfavorable, windy and wet.

Third place Saradac's Dangerous Diamond Caper ran in the last brace of this day. Caper was handled by Lisa Pollock and had two covey finds and and an unproductive, and hunted forward.

Tuesday was a dry and cloudy. The Championship started at 8am with the 4th brace and the 2020 Champion Kip's Bay Dark N Stormy Miss Maddie. Maddie handled by John Kipp. Maddie demonstrated excellent handling skills, was quick and snappy as she navigated the piney woods and grassy fields. Maddie is always hunting with an eye-catching stride. At 10 Maddie established point at the same time her bracemate was picked up for chasing. John decided to continue to work the find which resulted in a nonpro. Maddie went on to have two covey finds. The Runner Up came from the 6th. brace, T J's Black Diamond (Coal) handled by John Perry had a nice forward race. At 17minutes as we turned the corner, point was called and Coal had a stylish covey find. As he hunted the edges and the woods in a forward race, he was rewarded again about the halfway point with his second covey find. When time was called you could see him making a cast on the right side of an adjacent field. Forth place came from the 6th brace Diamond Hill A'int My Fault handled by Lisa Pollock. Scout had three covey finds and ran a nice gun dog race.

Tuesday afternoon Paul and Ginny Snyder hosted lunch for everyone for their dog Brigadoon's Hi Proof Moonshine (Hooch) which was handled by John Perry when he won the 2019 Region 2 Brittany Champagne Memorial Shooting Dog Championship and at that time they were presented with the Championship painting done by Herb Park of Pinkney, Mich., of their dog Brigadoon's Hi Proof Moonshine.
