North Carolina Open Quail Championship (l-r): Lefty Henry, Mike Hester, Ch. Lester's Storm Chaser, John Ivester, John Adsit, Geoff Beane (judge), Dereck Layne (judge), Derek Bonner, R-U Ch. Miller's Last Call, and Gretchen Adsit.

The NC Open Quail Championship was run on March 18-19, 2025, at the beautiful J. Robert Gordon field trial grounds Hoffman, North Carolina. Judging this year's championship were Dereck Layne of Chapel Hill, Tennessee, and Geoff Beane of Kenansville, Florida. Both men come with a lot of experience. We thank them for their efforts in watching each entry.

The winner of this year's championship was Pointer male Lester's Storm Chaser, handled by Lefty Henry and owned by John Ivester. Storm Chaser had six finds and a good forward race to claim the title. Our runner-up champion was Miller's Last Call, a Pointer male owned by Derek Bonner and Scott Griffin and handled by Derek Bonner. Last Call had five finds and a strong forward race to claim his part in the championship.

Thanks to Randy and Marcia Bradshaw for all they do to make this trial happen; to Scott Griffin for his contribution of the awesome hand-carved quail trophy; To all our handlers for their continued support. Special thanks go to Alex Rickert, owner of last year's champion Touch's Malcolm Story, for providing our handlers' meal, Debbie Bonner for her delicious cake, and our dog wagon driver, Greg Robinson, for always being where he's needed. We look forward to seeing everyone next year!
