Location: Argyle, Wisconsin

Post Date: Jun 24, 2025

NBHA Northern Reg CHS25

NBHA Northern Regional Championship (l-r): Zach Erne, Andy Ernie with Cates Rocket Girl, Mary Sue Schalk with Boatright's Maverick, and James Kleve, joined by the trial gallery.

The NBHA Northern Regional Championship was held at the Yellowstone Wildlife Management Area near Argyle, Wisconsin. The landscape provides plenty of real estate for a dog to range and demonstrate their ability in finding birds. The Twelve O'Clock Field Trial Club always provides a warm and welcoming event. As this is the last NBHA Championship for the 2024-25 trial season, the field of competition was very strong this year. Twelve O'Clock Field Trial Club would like to thank NBHA sponsors Purina, Garmin, Mule Brand Clothing, OnX Hunt, Gun Dog Supply, and Gun Dog Central for their continuing support that helps support this NBHA event.

Judges for this year's Championship were Mike Kindler of Brownsville, Wisconsin, and Mike Northwood of Waunakee, Wisconsin. Their time in the saddle was greatly appreciated, and their decisions were well-received.

With a strong field of 33 entries, the winner for the Northern Regional Championship is Cates Rocket Girl, a setter female owned by David Cates of Evansville, Indiana, and was handled by Zach Ernie of Doylestown, Ohio. The runner-up champion is Boatright's Maverick, a setter male owned by Terry Boatright of Richmond, Kentucky, and handled by James Kleve of Paris, Kentucky. Both dogs' performances were pleasing to the judges, making their decision easy.
The Open Derby companion stake was judged by Greg Blair of Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, and Chris Fields of DeForest, Wisconsin. This stake provided a peek at the future shooting dogs to come. In first place was Ocooch Ridge Runner (ESM) owned by Brad Toutant and handled by Tom Waite; in second place, Dale Creek Boogie With Stu (ESM), owned by Keith Wolf and handled by Tom Waite; and third, Dale Creek Simply Next (ISM) owned and handled by Deb Dlobik.

Thanks to all who participated, as well as to all who worked and helped make this trial a success.
