The Alabama Open Shooting Dog Championship started on December 1, 2025, drawing an impressive collection of some of the best shooting dogs in the country. With championship expectations high, the grounds once again proved worthy of the title they host.
We appreciate Debbie Ozner and George Hickox for their time and consideration in judging. We thank them both for their professionalism, fairness, and dedication to the sport.
Miller's Family Tradition and Squire Lee claimed the title of Alabama Open Shooting Dog champion. Owned by Pat and Julie Roach, this stylish shooting dog delivered a performance that left no doubt as to his place in the winner's circle.
Miller's Family Tradition turned in a stellar ground race, displaying reach, balance, and intelligence from start to finish. His race was forward and purposeful, covering the course with confidence and ease. He backed that performance with two solid finds, handled with composure and authority, cementing his championship run. Scouted by Jamie Daniels, the dog required little assistance, making his own race and standing on his own merits throughout, the hallmark of a true champion.
Runner-up Champion honors went to Dominator's Wild Bill, handled by Jeff Arnold and owned by Jeff Arnold and Gene Brown. Wild Bill delivered a phenomenal ground race, marked by power, application, and consistency. He produced a notable find behind Raven's, adding bird work to an already impressive showing. His performance exemplified the quality and competitiveness of this championship stake.
We extend our sincere thanks to Becky and Tony Gibson for their continued generosity and unwavering support of our field trials. Their dedication plays a vital role in preserving and promoting this sport we all care so deeply about.
Grateful appreciation also goes to our sponsors: SBHA, Purina, Eukanuba, SportDOG, and Jinks Crow, P.C., whose support made this championship possible.
Thank you as well to Ban and Allison Stewart and 5 Strings Catering for providing excellent meals throughout the trial, and to George Cole and Steve Hutto for cooking breakfast each morning. A special thank you to Steve Hutto for expertly handling the dog wagon and keeping everything running smoothly.
It is the collective effort of these individuals and supporters that ensures the continued success of our championships, and we are truly grateful for each and every one of them.
