The 2026 Championship was held at "THE" Showtime Plantation in Bronwood, Georgia. These grounds are well groomed for multiple courses run on wild birds. Showtime Plantation is owned and maintained by Larron and Laura Copeland. Our gallery marshal was Colt Copeland. Peter Coppens was the dog wagon driver this year. There is a nice clubhouse where we serve meals.
We want to thank Purina and their hard-working reps--Karl Gunzer, Greg Blair, Scott Johson, and Terry Trzcinski--for all their support, and SportDOG and Jim Moorehouse for the dog collars. Please support the companies that support our trials.

NGSPA Region 16 Open Shooting Dog Championship
The NGSPA Region 16 Open Championship started on Thursday, February 5, at 8 a.m. The weather was beautiful. Twenty-one dogs were brought to the line in this year's Open stake. Thank you to our pros who supported this stake--Dan and April DiMambro, and Jason King. Big thanks to Doug and Heather Miller for joining in the fun as well. Judges were Mr. Larron Copeland and Mr. Colt Copeland. We appreciate your expertise and time in the saddle.

The Open Champion for the 2026 NGSPA Region 16 Championship is Chicoree's Riden High Trixie. Trixie was handled by Dan DiMambro and scouted by April DiMambro. She is owned by Rondal Alexander and came from the third brace. Trixie had a UP at 20 and finds at 35 and 46. She had great swings and was always up front. Trixie was stylish on her bird work.
This year's Runner-up Open Champion is Heafner's Brilliant Brutus, handled by Jason King and scouted by Karen Dudich. He is owned by William Heafner. Brutus ran in the fourth brace. He had a find at 15 deep into the woods after a good move. He had a second find at 46 and finished strong.

This year, due to a lack of entries, we only ran a Shooting Dog stake. We want to invite everyone to plan to attend this Wild Bird Championship at Showtime Plantation in February 2027.
