NGSPA Quail Open Shooting Dog Championship
In a competitive and exciting Bird Dog Quail Championship, "Sophie" delivered a commanding performance to claim first place with a powerful forward race, consistently driving to the front and demonstrating exceptional range and determination. She maintained her intensity throughout the stake and sealed her victory with a stylish find at the 20-minute mark, showcasing both precision and composure. Close behind was "Stick," who earned second place with an impressive and steady performance, successfully completing the demanding hour stake with five well-handled finds. Requiring very little handling from the gallery, Stick displayed remarkable independence, focus, and consistency, making for a strong and memorable showing in the championship.

NGSPA Quail Amateur All-Age Championship
There were only five braces, but what great dogs they were. Each brace had brilliance--some flashes of, and others consistent throughout.
Brace 1 - Bonnie and Mig. This brace had some rainy minutes, but the dogs ran well with good bird work.
Brace 2 - Janis and Winnie. A beautiful brace to watch. Edges covered by both dogs, and they were always pushing the grounds to their limits. Bird work was well done and abundant.
Brace 3 - Tater and Squink. Another fun brace. Tater ran with purpose at times. Squink was consistent, with great application and bird work.
Brace 4 - Mike and Junior. Mike was way out from the breakaway, and Junior was with him with birds and manners. After pond dam 2, we lost Mike, and Junior shortened up.
Brace 5 - Nova and Rose. Neither dog finished the hour. Nova was lost at 15, and Rose took steps on a find.

NGSPA Quail Amateur Shooting Dog Championship
The 2026 Quail Amateur Shooting Dog Championship has concluded. The entries were smaller than usual, but we still had a number of good performances. The winner of the Amateur was M S R's Kiss My Lily, owned by James and Sarah Messer, handled to the win by James. Lily was consistently forward with a snappy race; she carded seven nice finds with nice style and composure.
Our runner-up champion was another of James and Sarah's entries. MSR's Scarlet's Witch also ran a nice forward race, carding three finds and a divided find with her bracemate. There were several other dogs that got around but didn't match the performances of our winners.
