The Lancaster County Field Trial Association (LCFTA) held its Spring 2026 trial on March 29 at Sabine Hall Plantation in Warsaw, Virginia. We began the day with the Puppy stakes, which included nine puppies. First place went to Charm City Mac, a pointer male handled by Mike McIntyre. Our second-place winner was Lancaster's Captain, a pointer male handled by Jimmy Crandall. Bobby Phillips' Bob's Whippoorwill Wendy, a pointer female, placed third. The winning puppies ran with a purpose and showed to the front.
The Amateur Derby first-place winner was Bob's Elhew Coco, a pointer female. Coco scored four finds on quail, showing shooting dog manners, and ran a forward classy race. Tuff, a pointer male, was awarded second place. Tuff had two nice finds with a straightforward race and demonstrated good manners. Frankie Barnes was his handler. Jimmy Crandall's third-place dog, Lancaster's Spot On, a pointer male, ran a forward race with two finds, a back, and a divided find showing advanced manners.
Lancaster's Amateur Shooting Dog stake was won by Hirollins All American, an English setter male handled by Frankie Barnes. He had a tremendous race with four mannerly finds. Pinekone Rappatomac Hawk, an English setter male, owned and handled by Jameson Crandall, had three finds, a good reaching ground race, and a strong finish. Hawk received second place. Third-place shooting dog, Mohawk Mill Big Stuff, a pointer male handled by Ashby Morgan, had a solid out-front race with three finds.
The Lancaster club would like to thank the Wellford/O'Hara family, owners of Sabine Hall, the participants, and spectators who made the trial a success. We would also like to thank our Puppy judges, Grace Anne Lawson and Steve Graham, and our Derby and Shooting Dog judges, Garrett Priest and Arnold Ripley. A special thanks to Steve Graham, who was also the bird planter.
We extend sincere appreciation to Purina for their continuous sponsorship and support.
