Result: Tallapoosa Field Trial Club

Location: Carrollton, Georgia

Post Date: Feb 26, 2021

Submitted By: Marty Robinson

The Tallapoosa Field Trial Club held its spring trial February 26-28 at Bear Creek Farms in Carrollton, Ga., owned by Marty and Linda Robinson.

With all the details covered and accounted for, it was time to bring the first of the 63 dogs to the line. We were greeted on Friday morning with forecasted rain but once the rain moved through on Friday, the remainder of the weekend was pleasant and fulfilling.

Our Judges were advertised as Jesse Brown of Tattnall, Ga., and Lavon King of Rockmart, Ga. Unfortunately, Lavon was having some health issues so Chappel Padgett of Cartersville, Ga., was called and eagerly obliged the club and expertly filled the judicial seat. We are very thankful to have had these gentlemen come and give of their time and experience so everyone participating in the trial could know they were given a fair shot with their entries.

There are always so many people to thank for a successful trial. My wife Linda and daughters Whitney and Carley and son-in-law Kevin are always on site to be sure every need is immediately addressed. We also had this group to thank for fresh meals each day, Danny Robinson is always present to be certain birds are out and replaced so each competitor has ample opportunity to find game.

Randy Robinson has been our tractor driver the last several trials and keeps the gallery wagon on course and positioned so spectators can be part of the action by being in position to observe the happenings. Stanley McCain, a longtime club member is consistently available wit the dog wagon as well as receiving entry fees and taking care of the finances of the trial.

Bruce Mercer and Terry Amberson, scouts extraordinaire, always make lending a hand the regular order of business. There is no shortage of people at our trial who are always available to lend a helping hand and we appreciate each and every one of you.

The SBHA is blessed with some awesome sponsors: Eukanuba, Kinetic, Sportsman's Pride, SportDog, James O'Neal Dodge, Valu-Pak, Hillbilly Mudd, Gun Dog Central and Gun Dog Supply. We appreciate each of them for their support and couldn't do the things we do without them. Please support these sponsors whenever you have the opportunity.

We were glad to have two professional trainers with us, two longtime friends Buddy Smith from Collierville, Tenn., and Oscar Whitt from Attalla, Ala. Most of our support comes from many amateur field trailers and while I love the professional trainers I have befriended throughout the many years in the sport, I will always hold a special appreciation to all the amateurs in the sport. The amateurs, in my belief, are the backbone of this great sport.

The sportsmanship and fellowship we experience at each of our trials is all the reason needed for this trial to continue on into its 62nd year for the 2021-2022 season and it is with great anticipation we await the fall of the year to meet and greet once more.

Thanks to everyone who continues to support our trial and I can only hope that with every trial, the good just keeps getting better. Until next season.

Carrollton, Ga., February 26
