TENRYU RIVER, JAPAN -- The Region 15 Amateur Shooting Dog Championship was held February 24 in Tenryu field.
The drawing was attended by many participants at Hotel Gan near the Tenryu venue.
President Mr. Yoshiharu Akisada expressed appreciation to the participants who attended and then explained the rules for the running and notes from Secretary Mr. Tatsuo Ishino and his cordial greeting: "Thanks for coming to the drawing tonight."
The field was changed due to torrential rain last summer and fall. Driftwood was scattered so in October of last year we brought out the machine and the road was improved so that the cars could enter. We appreciate the members who helped.
The weather was sunny, temperature 47 , humidity 43% and a westerly wind.
The judges were professional trainers Mr. Nobumasa Takeishi and Mr. Hiroshi Nakagawa.
First brace was set to start at 7:05 a. m. The field turns around to the right and goes out toward the river bank, then goes in a straight line for 30 minutes, takes a big turn to the right and then left side objectives for 60 minutes to return to the starting point.
The Region 15 has two 60-minute courses, the Shizuoka Field (Central Japan) and Northern Kanto (Northern Japan), where we can hold a 60-minute trials in Japan.
Railway Mack, four-year-old pointer male owned and handled by Syouichi Sonoda of Kanagawa Pref., was named the winner. He competed in brace No. 3, showing good speed and range. Max contacted a bird at 28 on the right side down by a big tree displaying good style and manners. When released he went to the front, running big and forward. He had a second find at 42 on field center objective. Thereafter he had three more finds for a total of five finds in his hour.
Runner-up Honey Hunt, two-year-old white and liver pointer male owned and handled by Yoshiharu Akisada (Sizuoka Pref.), ran a fast brace. Hunt was forward and fast with a find at 18 on which he showed good manners. He backed bracemate at 23. Hunt searched for birds, recording three finds and two backs in his 60 minutes.
