CALIFORNIA CITY, CAL. -- The Region 11 Amateur Shooting Dog Championship was held in conjunction with the California Bird Dog Championship at California City, Cal.
The weather was cold and windy throughout the stake, which made it very difficult for all dogs to come up with bird contact.
This year's stake drew nineteen starters. We were fortunate to have setters, pointers, German shorthaired pointers as well as Vizslas represented in the running.
We would like to thank our judges, Brian Gingrich and Gregg Knight, for their time in the saddle.
There were several outstanding performances. When the winners were announced Mr. Brandon Blum's German shorthair female BMB's Madison Avenue was awarded the championship title. With an excellent hour all the way forward with lots of class, she found with very little handling necessary. Once again strong winds and cold temperatures made finding game extremely difficult.
This year's runner-up went to Bill Stapleton with his Vizsla female Ramblin Rivers Fire Woman. She also ran an exciting shooting dog race from beginning to end and had nice style and manners around her game. She also finished the hour strongly.
Congratulations to our winners and we would once again like to thank our sponsors; Pro Plan, SportDog and Sunrise Ford for their continued support.
