The 2021 edition of the North Carolina Quail Championship was a successful event. Thanks to the handlers for their entries; without you all no trial is possible.

Many thanks for the sponsorship of Purina and Greg Blair for their continued generous support.

A big thanks goes to the owners of last year's winner Ch. Lester's Georgia Time and Georgia owners Baker Hubbard and Jim Clark for the fine dinner they provided. Additional thanks to Randy and Marcia Bradshaw for help putting this trial together, to our dog wagon driver Ted Riley, and finally to Larry Cox for always being there for me.

Our judges for this year's renewal were Tony Bingham of Shelby, N.C., and Tim Ruff of Irmo, S.C. Both men come with a wealth of experience, and made it clear they were looking for an all-age dog and found that in eventual champion, Southern Nation.

The Derby-age white and liver pointer male Southern Nation was handled by Lefty Henry, and is owned by John Ivester of Henderson, N.C., and Ruthann Epp of Marion Junction, Ala. Nation put down an extreme all-age race with one find and a big finish.

Runner-up was was H K Game Train, four-year-old white and black pointer male handled by his owner, Scott Griffin of Camden, S.C. Game Train also ran to the limits of the course, showing at just the right time and places. Game Train scored one good find, and had a strong finish.

Congratulations to the owners and handlers of the winning dogs! We look forward to next year!
