PORTAGE, WIS. -- The Four Lakes German Shorthaired Pointer Club of Wisconsin held its spring field trial April 26-28. There were 55 dogs entered in the trial. We thank everyone who attended.

The trial was originally scheduled to be held at Pine Island Wildlife Area in Portage, Wis., but the grounds were closed due to flooding and the trial had to be moved to Horicon Haven Farms in Burnett, Wis.

The trial started on Friday morning with the temperature in the 40s and windy.

The Open Restricted Shooting Dog was completed on Friday with High Roll N's Tokin Stogie (Cohiba), owned by Erica Zick and handled by Tim Zick, awarded the blue ribbon and $500.

The Open Derby and Open Shooting Dog Stakes were run on Saturday with the chance of rain/snow all day. We eventually had some snow flurries around 3:00 p. m. Otherwise we escaped the worst of the weather.

The Open Derby was won by Outbak's Tequila Rose, owned and handled by Jim Huele.

The Open Shooting Dog and the Amateur Shooting Dog were completed on Sunday under sunny skies and temperatures in the mid 50s. The Open Shooting was won by Windy Cities Last Laugh, owned by William Larson and handled by Rich Barber.

The Amateur Shooting Dog was won by Salamone's Mele Kalikimaka Boo which took home the blue ribbon and an "Impact Gel" saddle pad. We would like to thank all the club members who contributed to the success of this trial. Also a "big" thank-you to our sponsors, Purina, Impact Gel and V. Marchese Produce.

We look forward to seeing everybody back for next year's trial.
