When the calendar turns to the new year it's time for two National qualifying events invade camp Robinson. The first of the premiere events is the prairie open all age. The trials are spearheaded by Dr. Fred Corder of Corinth, Miss. Accepting the judging assignment were the husband and wife team from Kentucky. Dr. Kristine and Tim Hammons, they are known for their ties in red setter arena. Claiming top spot was game heir a powerful young champion owned and handled by Dr. Corder. His search paid off with a find at the 59 minute mark to go with his strong race. Pro Steve Hurdle was second with very forward race and well spaced bevy find. He's owned by Ted Roach of the Magnolia State. Third was garnered by Lowrider Frank and handler Allen Vincent notching two finds and a strong effort. Frank is owned by great friends and sportsmen Dr. Jim Mills and Steve Lightle both from Searcy, Ark. In the accompanying derby stake world class moonshiner owned by mick Marietta of Pittsburg Kansas, Randy Anderson at the wheel. Second was smooth talker Steve hurdler in control and Ted roach owner. Third came in with Mauck's Wyeast Owyhee Ajay owned and handled by Alex Mauck.
Next on the bill was the Pelican All-Age this time duties were handed by two Missourians Nathan Berendzen and Jay Lewis. Miss Stylin Sue and Allen Vincent claimed tops with Dr. Jim Mills and Steve Lightle proud owners. Second was Bonner's Bulletproof owned by Dr. Chris Cornman of the big state of Texas. Randy Anderson held the reins. Third was Texas Wild Rex owned by another Texan Steve Burns. Allen Vincent was again at the helm. In the derby Wynona Nickelback sugar found the sweet spot for owner Bruce Sooter of the lone star state. Allen Vincent showed sugar. I'm Gallant was number two for Randy Anderson and owner Jay McKenzie of the sunflower state. Touch's Cocaine Blues for Okie Matt Griffith and handler Randy Anderson filled the number three spot.
The weather was a challenge throughout the seven days. We thank all the handlers and owners that make this time so special. A big thank you to Roger Martin for being in control of the dog wagon. To all the judges for their attention and giving their opinions.
