The Summerhill trial held its annual event May 7-8 at the George Tracy Training grounds in Glenville Pa. The trial was run under the SBHA banner. We thank SBHA and Gun Dog supply for their generous support.
The club sponsored a Friday night Pizza party and a Saturday night Ham dinner. Both were held a George and Mary Tracy's home. Thanks to Mary for hosting the events.
Karen Saniga is the trial organizer and was helped by George Tracy, who planted birds and Mike Tracy, who saddled horses for everyone an d helped finding lost dogs. Andrew Dawson and Jeanette Tracy helped in many ways.
Judges for the three stakes were Mark Hughes and Eric Munden. They brought the Hughes camper along with Dave's dad, Hall of famer Dave Hughes, who came to judge the youth stake with another hall of fame handler-George Tracy. Unfortunately 40 mph winds and pouring rain Saturday starting late morning caused cancellation of the running for the day.
We started Saturday morning with the restricted amateur in a misting rain and calm conditions. Winning the stake was Steel Valley Raven, pointer female owned by Lisa Pollock, Brian Sanchez and Ted Foust. Taydem Boyer handled. Raven had five finds, all perfectly handled, to go with a strong race. Second went to her bracemate, Miller's Special Cinderella, Bill and Muriel Primm's pointer female handled by Tom Brigman to a fine race and four finds. Taydem won third with Great River Bella, another pointer female. She is owned by Brian Sanchez. Bella also ran a good race and had two finds
Joe Lordi's pointer Navajo Cody took the blue in the amateur shooting dog with a strong forward race to go with two finds and a back, all well handled. Second was Waybetter Bobby, Bob Verderosa's pointer. Bobby had a good forward race to go with 3 finds and an nonproductive. Bull Finch was third with a classy race and a single find.
In the Amateur Derby, first and third went to the same dogs a s in the restricted derby. Taydem Boyer again handled. They were Steel Valley Raven and Great River Bella. Raven again had five finds to go with a strong race. Bella repeated her fine race, this time with a single find. Interestingly, Tom Brigman again got second but this time it was with his own dog, Harbor City Pride. Pride was classy and forward and scored four finished finds.
