The 2022 Big Sky Open Shooting Dog Championship began on Friday, April 8th at Joe King and Sons Ranch in Winnett, Mont. Conditions for this trial start fair on Friday morning, but the wind picked up and conditions worsened as the trial went on. Bird numbers were good with fair opportunities for bird work on all courses.
The Big Sky Field Trial Club would like to thank the King family for allowing us to use their expansive ranch to hold this field trial. The King family takes great care of their land providing us with one of the finest wild bird field trial grounds in the Western U. S. We also want to thank them for the use of their ranch house for trial officials and judges. It is a great convenience and sincerely appreciated. Judges for this trial were Ashby Morgan of Hudgins, Va., and John Outlaw of Warsaw, N.C. Both judges rode very long hours in some very difficult conditions but stayed attentive and gave each dog a watchful eye throughout. Their judgments were well received, and we are thankful for the job well done.
