The Sandlapper Field Trial Club held its spring trial January 27-29 at Sawtooth Plantation in McBee, S. C. Sawtooth Plantation is owned by the Ivester Family and is the premier place to run bird dogs in South Carolina. John Ivester has graciously allowed South Carolina field trial clubs to run numerous trials on these beautiful grounds for the last five years. Great to have Joan, Stephanie (John's daughter), and grandson Cooper.

Thanks to Greg Blair and Purina for sponsoring the Sandlapper trial this year and in past years.
As we all know, securing good judges is the biggest task of putting a trial together. I want to thank Sammy Giddens and Chad Adams for judging the Amateur Shooting Dog and Derek Bonner for helping me with Derby stakes.

I want to thank all participants for attending the Sandlapper trial and a special thanks to Nida Giddens for attending and helping out.

As we all know, the trial doesn't run by itself, so I commend Sandlapper Club members Dr. Billy McCathern, Bill Britt, and Tim Ruff for making this trial a big success.

The running started Friday morning with the Open Derby. First place was I Dream of Jeannie, owned and handled by Kyle Whitfield; second was Saddled Up Sadie, owned and handled by Mark Hughes; third was Mulberry Fields Molly, owned by Norm Meeder and handled by Mark Hughes.

The Amateur Derby followed with I Dream of Jeannie taking first. Second was Miss Moneypenny, owned and handled by Gary Miller, and third place was Jolene, owned and handled by Bill Adams.

The Amateur Shooting Dog started Saturday morning with cool weather throughout the day. Judges Sammy Giddens and Chad Adams placed the following dogs and commented on each dog and its good performance.
First place in the Amateur Shooting Dog was Clayhill T Bone, owned and handled by Harry Cook III, with five finds and a good race. Second place Cottonwood Banjoe was handled to a three-find performance and a good race for owner and handler Tim Ruff. Third place Harbor City Pride handled a two-find performance and good race for owner and handler Tom Brigman.
