This summary is of the four Derbies from each Region that have points enough as of the writing to qualify to the 2022 U.S. Amateur Derby Invitational. By no means is this final or official until the points deadline on March 13!
Here is how they got to this point:
East Region
Awakened, pointer female by Touch's Grey Street ex Intentional is owned and handled by Matt Pendergest. To date, she has compiled seven placements earning a total of 185 pts. She did so by winning Central Kentucky FTC Derby with fourteen starters earning 42 pts, a second in a fifteen-dog Derby at Carroll County worth 30 pts; third place at Memphis Amateur with eleven starters for 33 pts; a second a Reelfoot FTC with six starters worth 12 pts; a first place at Ames Amateur Derby with fourteen starters worth 42 pts; a second at Como Amateur with six starters for 12 pts, and winning Carolina Amateur with twelve starters gaining 36 pts totaling 185 pts to date.
Phillips Linebacker, pointer male by Phillips Offline ex Phillips Silver Lady owned by Nathan Phillips and Orrin Ingram handled by Mike Small, earning six placements, winning Carroll County Amateur with fifteen starters for 45 pts; second at Memphis Amateur with eleven starters for 22 pts, a second at Ames Amateur with fourteen starters for 28 pts, third at Southern Illinois Bird Hunters with eleven starters for 11 pts, first place at Alabama Amateur with nine starters for 27 pts; first place at Woodlawn Amateur Derby with ten starters for 30 pts totaling 163 pts to date
Cocklebur Breaking Bad, pointer male by Cocklebur King Tut ex Cocklebur Regent Runaway owned by Bubba, Amy and Colt Spencer, handled by Bubba Spencer having five placements with a second at Hell Creek Amateur with six starters for 12 pts, third place at United States Amateur Derby East Region Super Qualifier with 24 starters worth 24 pts plus the 10 bonus points totaling 34, 3rd at Ames Amateur with fourteen starters for 14 pts, first at Clarksville Pointer and Setter Club with ten starters worth 30 pts, first at Como FTC with six starters for 18 pts totaling 108 to date.
Lacey's Cool Hand Luke, pointer male by Lester's Storm Surge ex R W Susie Q owned and handled by Perry Lacy had four placements to date, first and Memphis Am with eleven starters for 33 pts, first at Coalfield BDC with ten starters for 30 pts, third at Volunteer FTC with eight starters for 8 pts, a second at Marshall County Amateur with twelve starters for 24 pts totaling to 95 pts to date.
Central Region
Reed's Super Spirit, pointer male by Valiant ex Reed's Winter Spirit owned and handled by Jason Super had three placements, 1st place at KFTCA Amateur Derby with 20 starters for 60 pts, first place at Region 7 Derby with nine starters for 27 pts, and by winning the Oil Capital with six starters and 18 pts totaling to date 105 pts
Erin's Southern Comfort, pointer male by Erin's Lonestar Law ex Erin's Irresistible Jane owned and handled by Sean Derrig gained his 97 pts by winning the 24-starter U.S. Amateur Derby Invitational East Region Super Qualifer for 72 points plus the 25 bonus pts
Rester's Powered Up, pointer male by Showtime Sam Houston ex Rester's Katie Lee owned and handled by Cecil Rester gained his 63 points by winning second at the U.S Amateur Derby Invitational East Region Super Quailifer
H P Social Distancing, pointer male by Wiggins Elhew River ex Wiggins Miss Elhew Rebel owned and handled by Rodney Shoemaker totaled 48 points by winning the sixteen-starter Amateur Derby at High Plains .
West Region
Perkins Rebel Within, pointer male by Riverton Funseek'n Scooter ex Perkins Lakeside Wild Child gained 60 pts by winning the twenty-starter Eastern Idaho BDC Derby in American Falls, Ida.
Tekoa Mountain Jay See, setter female by Wynona's Last Sunrise ex Wynona's Gunslinger Jewel owned and handled by Alex Mauck of Ontario, Ore., accumulated 40 pts by winning second at Eastern Idaho BDC.
Touch's Amazing Greyce, pointer female by Touch's Grey Street ex Intentional owned and handled by Austin Turley of Molt, Mont., has 24 pts by winning the eight-starter Big Sky FTC Derby at Table Rock Ranch in Barber, Mont.
Canyon Creek Ace, German shorthaired pointer male by Rio's Rising Renegade ex Cuttin Wild's Hidden Gem owned by Ray and Tami Larrondo of Nampa, Ida., handled by Ray Larrondo gained his points by winning 1st place at National Chukar Championship Derby worth 21 pts
